תִּגַּ֥ע It strikes you ,tig·ga‘
עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ. . .‘ā·ḏe·ḵā
וַתִּבָּהֵֽל׃and you are dismayed .wat·tib·bā·hêl
Job 4:6יִ֭רְאָתְךָIs your reverenceyir·’ā·ṯə·ḵā
הֲלֹ֣אnothă·lō
כִּסְלָתֶ֑ךָ your confidence ,kis·lā·ṯe·ḵā
וְתֹ֣םand the uprightnesswə·ṯōm
דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃of your waysdə·rā·ḵe·ḵā
תִּ֝קְוָתְךָ֗your hope ?tiq·wā·ṯə·ḵā
Job 4:7זְכָר־Considerzə·ḵār-
נָ֗א now, I plead :
מִ֤י Who ,
ה֣וּא
נָקִ֣י being innocent ,nā·qî
אָבָ֑דhas ever perished ?’ā·ḇāḏ
וְ֝אֵיפֹ֗הOr wherewə·’ê·p̄ōh
יְשָׁרִ֥יםhave the uprightyə·šā·rîm
נִכְחָֽדוּ׃been destroyed ?niḵ·ḥā·ḏū
Job 4:8כַּאֲשֶׁ֣רAska·’ă·šer
רָ֭אִיתִי I have observed ,rā·’î·ṯî
חֹ֣רְשֵׁיthose who plowḥō·rə·šê
אָ֑וֶןiniquity’ā·wen
וְזֹרְעֵ֖יand those who sowwə·zō·rə·‘ê
עָמָ֣לtrouble‘ā·māl
יִקְצְרֻֽהוּ׃reap the same .yiq·ṣə·ru·hū
Job 4:9מִנִּשְׁמַ֣תBy the breathmin·niš·maṯ
אֱל֣וֹהַof God’ĕ·lō·w·ha
יֹאבֵ֑דוּ they perish ,yō·ḇê·ḏū
וּמֵר֖וּחַand by the blastū·mê·rū·aḥ
אַפּ֣וֹof His anger’ap·pōw
יִכְלֽוּ׃they are consumed .yiḵ·lū
Job 4:10אַ֭רְיֵהThe lion’ar·yêh
שַׁאֲגַ֣ת may roar ,ša·’ă·ḡaṯ
שָׁ֑חַלand the fierce lionšā·ḥal
וְק֣וֹל may growl ,wə·qō·wl
וְשִׁנֵּ֖יyet the teethwə·šin·nê
כְפִירִ֣יםof the young lionsḵə·p̄î·rîm
נִתָּֽעוּ׃are broken .nit·tā·‘ū
Job 4:11לַ֭יִשׁThe old lionla·yiš
אֹבֵ֣דperishes’ō·ḇêḏ
מִבְּלִי־for lackmib·bə·lî-
טָ֑רֶף of prey ,ṭā·rep̄
וּבְנֵ֥יand the cubsū·ḇə·nê
לָ֝בִ֗יאof the lionesslā·ḇî
יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ׃are scattered .yiṯ·pā·rā·ḏū
Job 4:12דָּבָ֣רNow a worddā·ḇār
וְ֭אֵלַיcame to mewə·’ê·lay
יְגֻנָּ֑בsecretly ;yə·ḡun·nāḇ
אָ֝זְנִ֗יmy ears’ā·zə·nî
וַתִּקַּ֥חcaughtwat·tiq·qaḥ
שֵׁ֣מֶץa whisperšê·meṣ
מֶֽנְהֽוּ׃of it .men·hū
Job 4:13בִּ֭שְׂעִפִּיםIn disquietingbiś·‘ip·pîm
מֵחֶזְיֹנ֣וֹתvisionsmê·ḥez·yō·nō·wṯ
לָ֑יְלָה in the night ,lā·yə·lāh
תַּ֝רְדֵּמָ֗הwhen deep sleeptar·dê·māh
בִּנְפֹ֥לfallsbin·p̄ōl
עַל־on‘al-
אֲנָשִֽׁים׃ men ,’ă·nā·šîm
Job 4:14פַּ֣חַדfearpa·ḥaḏ
וּרְעָדָ֑הand tremblingū·rə·‘ā·ḏāh
קְ֭רָאַנִיcame over meqə·rā·’a·nî
וְרֹ֖בand made allwə·rōḇ
עַצְמוֹתַ֣יmy bones‘aṣ·mō·w·ṯay
הִפְחִֽיד׃shudder .hip̄·ḥîḏ
Job 4:15וְ֭רוּחַThen a spiritwə·rū·aḥ
יַחֲלֹ֑ףglidedya·ḥă·lōp̄
עַל־past‘al-
פָּנַ֣י my face ,pā·nay
