Joel 1:2שִׁמְעוּ־Hearšim·‘ū-
זֹאת֙ this ,zōṯ
הַזְּקֵנִ֔יםO elders ;haz·zə·qê·nîm
וְהַֽאֲזִ֔ינוּ and give ear ,wə·ha·’ă·zî·nū
כֹּ֖לallkōl
יוֹשְׁבֵ֣יwho dwellyō·wō·šə·ḇê
הָאָ֑רֶץin the land .hā·’ā·reṣ
זֹּאת֙Has anything like thiszōṯ
הֶהָ֤יְתָהever happenedhe·hā·yə·ṯāh
בִּֽימֵיכֶ֔םin your daysbî·mê·ḵem
וְאִ֖םorwə·’im
בִּימֵ֥יin the daysbî·mê
אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃of your fathers ?’ă·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem
Joel 1:3סַפֵּ֑רוּTellsap·pê·rū
עָלֶ֖יהָit‘ā·le·hā
לִבְנֵיכֶ֣םto your children ;liḇ·nê·ḵem
וּבְנֵיכֶם֙let your childrenū·ḇə·nê·ḵem
לִבְנֵיהֶ֔ם tell it to their children ,liḇ·nê·hem
וּבְנֵיהֶ֖םand their childrenū·ḇə·nê·hem
אַחֵֽר׃to the next’a·ḥêr
לְד֥וֹרgeneration .lə·ḏō·wr
Joel 1:4הַגָּזָם֙What the devouring locusthag·gā·zām
יֶ֤תֶר has left ,ye·ṯer
הָֽאַרְבֶּ֔הthe swarming locusthā·’ar·beh
אָכַ֣לhas eaten ;’ā·ḵal
הָאַרְבֶּ֖הwhat the swarming locusthā·’ar·beh
וְיֶ֥תֶר has left ,wə·ye·ṯer
הַיָּ֑לֶקthe young locusthay·yā·leq
אָכַ֣לhas eaten ;’ā·ḵal
הַיֶּ֔לֶקand what the young locusthay·ye·leq
וְיֶ֣תֶר has left ,wə·ye·ṯer
הֶחָסִֽיל׃the destroying locusthe·ḥā·sîl
אָכַ֖לhas eaten .’ā·ḵal
Joel 1:5הָקִ֤יצוּ Wake up ,hā·qî·ṣū
שִׁכּוֹרִים֙ you drunkards ,šik·kō·w·rîm
וּבְכ֔וּand weep ;ū·ḇə·ḵū
וְהֵילִ֖לוּ wail ,wə·hê·li·lū
כָּל־allkāl-
שֹׁ֣תֵיyou drinkersšō·ṯê
יָ֑יִן of wine ,yā·yin
עַל־because of‘al-
עָסִ֕יס the sweet wine ,‘ā·sîs
כִּ֥יfor
נִכְרַ֖תit has been cut offniḵ·raṯ
מִפִּיכֶֽם׃from your mouth .mip·pî·ḵem
Joel 1:6כִּֽי־Forkî-
גוֹי֙a nationḡō·w
עָלָ֣הhas invaded‘ā·lāh
עַל־. . .‘al-
אַרְצִ֔י My land ,’ar·ṣî
עָצ֖וּםpowerful‘ā·ṣūm
וְאֵ֣יןand withoutwə·’ên
מִסְפָּ֑רnumber ;mis·pār
שִׁנָּיו֙its teethšin·nāw
שִׁנֵּ֣י[are] the teethšin·nê
אַרְיֵ֔ה of a lion ,’ar·yêh
וּֽמְתַלְּע֥וֹתand its fangs [are the fangs]ū·mə·ṯal·lə·‘ō·wṯ
לָבִ֖יאof a lionesslā·ḇî
לֽוֹ׃.lōw
Joel 1:7שָׂ֤םIt has laidśām
לְשַׁמָּ֔הwastelə·šam·māh
גַּפְנִי֙My grapevinegap̄·nî
לִקְצָפָ֑הand splinteredliq·ṣā·p̄āh
וּתְאֵנָתִ֖יMy fig tree .ū·ṯə·’ê·nā·ṯî
חָשֹׂ֤ףIt has stripped off the barkḥā·śōp̄
חֲשָׂפָהּ֙ḥă·śā·p̄āh
וְהִשְׁלִ֔יךְand thrown it away ;wə·hiš·lîḵ
שָׂרִיגֶֽיהָ׃the branchesśā·rî·ḡe·hā
הִלְבִּ֖ינוּhave turned white .hil·bî·nū
